Gunderson Baseball Trainers
Kevin Gunderson
I was born and raised in Portland, OR, where I attended Central Catholic High School (2003). As a 4 year letter winner, I compiled a high school record of 41-3 on the mound. I was Honorable Mention All League my Freshman and Sophomore seasons. My Junior and Senior seasons I was named First Team All League as a pitcher. During those same seasons I was named to 3rd and 1st team All State. I was the Mt. Hood Conference Pitcher of the year and CO-MVP during my Senior Year. I was selected to participate in the State-Metro All Star Series in the Dalles. For my performance at the event, I was named MVP of the series. I was also selected to participate in the Oregon-Washington-Idaho All Star Series, where I was selected as the MVP. My hard work paid off and I was fortunate to sign a letter of intent to play baseball at Oregon State University. I graduated Central Catholic with a 3.4 GPA.

Attending Oregon State was the best decision of my life. I was able to build life long friendships, receive my degree, and help turn Oregon State into a national power. I went 6-2 with 3 saves my Freshman season in various roles out of the bullpen. I was named Honorable Mention All Pac-10 and 1st Team Freshman All-American by Collegiate Baseball. I earned the full time closing role my Sophomore year and compiled 14 saves. I was named First Team All Pac-10 and Honorable Mention All-American. Our team set many records that year as the 2005 was the start of something special at Oregon State. We won the Pac-10 outright with a 19-5 conference record. We advanced to the College World Series which was the first time since 1952 and finished with a top 7 ranking in the nation. After that season, I was selected to tryout for the 2005 USA National Team. I was lucky enough to be one of 22 of the top players in the country to make the team. A few members on that squad, included: David Price, Matt Wieters, Max Scherzer, Sean Doolittle, Mark Melancon, Jon Jay, and Ian Kennedy to name a few. There was much hype entering the 2006 season including a preseason top 5 ranking. I was named to 1st Team All Pac-10 and 2nd Team All-American during my Junior season. We hosted both the regionals and super regionals in Corvallis and advanced to the College World Series without losing a game in both regionals. We took the hard way to win it all but were able to get in done and capture the first ever baseball title in the history of Oregon State baseball. I was named to the All World Series 1st Team. During the world series, I recorded 3 saves and 1 win. I was the national saves leader my Junior year (20). I set the Oregon State record for Saves in a season (20) and career (37) which still stand today. I was drafted in the 5th Round (160th player taken) by the Atlanta Braves.

I spent parts of 5 seasons in the Atlanta Braves organization, reaching as high as Triple A. I was part of a very talented team that won the Southern League Championship in 2008 (Double A). During my career I played with current Major League players: Craig Kimbrel, Jason Heyward, Freddie Freeman and Jonny Venters. Professional Baseball was a great experience and taught me many life lessons both on and off the field.

I currently live in West Linn, OR with my wife Brynn and sons, Carter (8) and Maddox (5). I received a BS in Sociology from Oregon State University.
